I began my marine career in 1959 in Glasgow Scotland at John Brown's Shipyard as an apprentice boilermaker ship builder. Traveling back to Canada I was employed building and fabricating "Steel Boom Boats" for the logging industry for several years. Then, with my step father, lofted, built and fabricated several 38' wooden sail boats.
In 1967 I sailed around the world in a 150' ferro cement yacht "Moshka" At many ports visited around the world I was employed to fit, rig, and maintain many types of vessels from sail boats, power boats, barges etc.
In Australia 1973, I built a 54' steel ketch and sail around the world again. Back in Australia 1976, I started working in a boatyard lofting, building and fabricating aluminum and steel power boats, sail boats and barges. Eventually I moved into designing and fabricating power and sail boats. I started my own boatyard, where I again designed, built, fabricated steel and aluminum power and sail boats.
I have worked with ferro cement, fiberglass, steel, aluminum and wood boats for many years and rigged sail boats and fitting out many types of power boats.
I began Marine Surveying small craft in Australia in 1977 for pre-purchase, Insurance (fair market valuation and replacement value) and damage assessment. I have a total of about 47 years in the marine industry and 34 years as a marine surveyor. I have been working as a Marine Surveyor on the Sunshine Coast for 6 years. I am a member of the Canadian Association Certified Marine Surveyors and a Master Marine Surveyor. I pride myself in keeping a breast of the latest and fullest technological advances in the industry and constantly strive to give the very best service I can provide my clients.

"Larrie Cook was secured as our Marine Surveyor and thanks to his careful inspection, we were informed of several problem areas with the boat we were about to purchase. Because of Larrie's qualified professionalism as a Marine Surveyor, we were spared problems and expenditures on that particular boat that we could not have anticipated. We are happy to recommend Larrie Cook to others."
Dr. P. Hoelzley.
Mr. Cook performed these duties in a very thorough professional fashion and did indeed go far beyond what was expected of him in regards to testing and checking the overall condition of the vessel. His grasp of the technical aspects of the vessel and the equipment that he used were excellent. As well, his promptness in regards to answering phone calls and showing up for appointments were much appreciated and streamlined the whole process. Overall, I would rate Mr. Cook's performance and ability as excellent and recommend his services as a Marine Surveyor.
